Fapes Joins Partnership, Opens Opportunities for Collaboration Between Espírito Santo and Australian Researchers
Online event will focus on Sustainable Agriculture; applications open until May 28.
The partnership between the National Council of State Research Support Foundations (CONFAP) and the Australian Department of Education (DoE) opens another excellent opportunity for the internationalization of research. The 6th edition of "Australia-Brazil: Virtual Research Collaboration" aims to foster new collaborations and strengthen existing partnerships between Brazilian and Australian researchers, focusing on solutions for global challenges. The online event will take place on June 17–18, 2025, at 7:00 PM Brasília time.
This edition will select 10 senior researchers from each country, who may nominate up to two early-career researchers to participate in the activities. Senior researchers from Espírito Santo interested in participating must complete the application form (link below) by 7:00 PM Brasília time on May 28.
The central theme of the event will be Sustainable Agriculture, with the following subtopics:
-
Climate Change: adapting to a transforming environment;
-
Agribusiness Sector: balancing growth and impact mitigation;
-
Community Engagement and Access: communication and promotion of social participation.
Rodrigo Varejão, Director General of Fapes, emphasizes the importance of this type of partnership between Confap and the Australian government in promoting the internationalization of research.
“We want our research to be developed in collaboration with other countries. In this specific case, the theme aligns perfectly with Espírito Santo’s priority areas, such as sustainable agriculture. This is an opportunity even for researchers who have not yet collaborated with Australian colleagues to participate in an event that allows them to engage in interactions with Australian researchers,” he explained.
“In this way, we are fostering the creation of networks in partnership with the Australian Government, connecting Brazilian and Australian researchers. It is important to note that applications from Espírito Santo researchers will be evaluated and selected by the Australian event organizers,” Varejão added.
