New opportunities for Capixaba master’s, PhD students, and researchers

The Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa e Inovação do Espírito Santo (Fapes) has reopened four previously closed calls after receiving additional funding to support more projects.

The open calls are:

• Call No. 19/2024 – Participation in Technical-Scientific Events

• Call No. 20/2024 – Organization of Technical-Scientific Events

• Call No. 21/2024 – Technical-Scientific Visits

• Call No. 22/2024 – Technical-Scientific Internships

These initiatives aim to financially support the dissemination of Capixaba scientific production and promote exchanges in laboratories and research centers in Brazil and abroad. According to Fapes Technical-Scientific Director Celso Saibel, the adjusted calendar ensures continuous support throughout the year.

“Previously, these calls were launched in December, which extended submissions and evaluations until March. During this period, researchers were left without support for events, internships, or visits — precisely during the Northern Hemisphere’s most active months,” explained Saibel.
“Now, with this new call, we can fund events, internships, and technical visits year-round,” he added.

The new calls total over BRL 2 million from the State Fund for Science and Technology (Funcitec).

Call No. 19/2024 – Participation in Technical-Scientific Events

Supports participation in short-duration technical-scientific events, such as conferences, symposia, workshops, seminars, and scientific meetings, in Espírito Santo, Brazil, or abroad.

• Event period: January 5 – April 30, 2026

• Funding available: BRL 500,000

• Eligibility: Master’s and PhD students from Capixaba institutions and researchers with a master’s or doctoral degree affiliated with local Higher Education or Research Institutions

• Application deadline: September 24, 2025

Call No. 20/2024 – Organization of Technical-Scientific Events

Supports the organization of short-duration technical-scientific events, including symposia, workshops, seminars, fairs, and scientific meetings.

• Event period: January 5 – April 30, 2026, up to 15 days continuous or non-continuous

• Funding available: BRL 555,000

• Eligibility: Researchers affiliated with local Higher Education or Research Institutions

• Application deadline: September 24, 2025

Calls No. 21 & 22/2024 – Technical-Scientific Visits and Internships

Support technical-scientific visits and internships in laboratories or research, development, and innovation (R&D&I) centers in Brazil or abroad. Activities aim to improve techniques, processes, and knowledge linked to R&D&I projects developed in local Higher Education or Research Institutions.

• Activity period: January 5 – April 30, 2026

• Funding available: BRL 1,000,000

• Eligibility: Master’s and PhD students from Capixaba institutions and researchers with a master’s or doctoral degree affiliated with local Higher Education or Research Institutions

• Application deadline: September 25, 2025
